Nicola is once again running her annual campaign to support local small business owners. Her #shopsmall campaign provides a great opportunity for locals to show their appreciation for their favourite small business.
Residents consistently tell Nicola that protecting the character of their high streets is one of their top priorities, and #shopsmall aims to support small businesses by recognising their contribution to the local community.
On Small Business Saturday 5th December 2015, Nicola braved the rain and wind and went out to visit some small business and raise awarness of the campaign. She popped in to the Abingdon book store, the Abingdon Gift Centre, Patisserie Pascal, Fabulous Flowers, Brock’s Butcher in Botley, Oxford Interiors. Just a handful of the wonderful small business Oxfordshire has to offer.
Nicola also spoke in a debate about Small Business Saturday in the House of Commons, praising the Vale of White Horse District Council who have worked to halve the number of empty shops in Abingdon, and who put on free parking on the 28th November.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of the local economy and it is vital that we support them. As well as boosting economic growth, small businesses add vibrancy and colour to our local high streets. We are lucky to have so many start up and flourish in Oxford and Abingdon.
If you have not already, do pop in to your favourite store and ask for a nomination form or you can nominate them online to ensure your favourite makes the list, and make sure you continue to shop locally to show your support for our fantastic small businesses.
