Raising the flag for our armed forces

Nicola was proud to join the Lord Mayor of Oxford, representatives from Oxfordshire County Council and City Council along with a number of other local dignitaries to mark Armed Forces Day 2016 by hoisting the Armed Forces Flag above the Town Hall.

The day is marked across the country, honouring the contributions of services men and women both past and present who have served in the British Army. It began with the flag raising in Oxford followed by a ceremony at County Hall, and festivities continued throughout the day including a tour of a Chinook in Wallingford.

Nicola says: Armed Forces Day brings everyone together to demonstrate their support for our armed forces and their families, recognising the sacrifice they make to keep us safe. Even on a rainy day people turnout to show their gratitude and respect for our troops.
