Prince William in Oxford to open new University building

Nicola attended the opening of the new Blavatnik School of Government building alongside HRH The Duke of Cambridge. The new building was made possible through a £75 million donation from philanthropist Leonard Blavatnik, and is specially designed to bring together what was previously three separate sites. The beautiful new building is located on the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, where students were able to move into late 2015.

Prince William opened the new building, meeting with those involved in the design and construction of the school including Leonard Blavatnik and his family. The Blavatnik School is also collaborating with the UK Cabinet Office to establish a centre of excellence called the Government Outcomes (GO) Lab. The new scheme will collaborate with private and not-for-profit sector to improve social outcomes within the public sector.

HRH the Duke of Cambridge said:

I wish the current students, faculty and staff of the School the very best as they work in this remarkable new building. I hope that this place will inspire them, and the generations that follow, to make a real and positive contribution to good government wherever they find themselves in the world.

Nicola says:

It is a great honour to be at the opening of the Blavatnik School of Government with HRH the Duke of Cambridge, the new building is such a wonderful achievement and I look forward to hearing of the exciting work of the School of Government.
