Oxford community comes together at colourful Mela festival

Nicola was thrilled to attend and speak at this year’s Oxford Mela at Rose Hill Community Centre, an annual Hindu festival organised by Oxford Hindu Temple and Community Centre Project.

The Mela is a fantastic day out for the family, featuring live music and performances from various cultures as well as arts, games, dance sports, henna, face-painting and, of course, a wide range of delicious food.

Alongside Nicola was Cllr Mike Badcock, former Oxford East MP Andrew Smith and other community representatives of all political colours coming together to celebrate with locals.

Nicola says: I had a wonderful welcome at this year’s Oxford Mela at Rose Hill Community Centre – truly a joyful celebration of song, dance and, of course, food for all the community! But it was more than that, it was a clear demonstration that the strength and resilience of our County is deeply rooted in its diversity and we all have a role in ensuring that continues to flourish.
