Nicola objects to Lodge Hill Park & Ride proposals

Nicola organised a meeting with senior representatives from Oxfordshire County Council. Parish Councillors, and campaign group Sunningwell Parishioners Against Damage to the Environment (SPADE) at County Hall at the end of October to discuss plans for new ‘Park and Ride’ sites being brought forward under the Council’s Transport Plan (LTP4).

Having seen the proposed site near Lodge Hill, Nicola shares many of the concerns of Sunningwell, Cumnor and Radley residents who are deeply worried about the impact on local Green Belt land. Nicola has been clear that, while of course we should be doing all we can to encourage people to use public transport and alleviate traffic coming in to the city centre, the park & ride sites must be suitable for the local area and, in the case of the Lodge Hill Park & Ride proposal, she believes that an alternative site should be found.

At the meeting, Leader of the Council Ian Hudspeth and Cabinet member for the environment David Nimmo Smith, stressed that no final decision has yet been taken on the sites. They pledged to work with SPADE and Parish Councils in finding sites for the Sunningwell Park & Ride site and other sites across the County.
