Green Light for Lodge Hill

After years of campaigning for A34 improvements, Nicola has secured commitment from the Treasury, Department of Transport, Highways Agency and County Council to fund and deliver a Diamond Junction at Logde Hill junction in Abingdon as the Oxfordshire Growth Deal is expanded by almost £10 million. Nicola has been campaigning for a full Diamond Junction at Lodge Hill, which will relieve major congestion in Abingdon and along the route of the A34. Taken with the £50m improvements to the Botley and Peartree Junctions announced in the Autumn Statement, this means Nicola has succeeded in securing funding to upgrade every major A34 junction in her constituency.

Nicola joined the Rt Hon Grant Shapps to announce a £9.9 milion expansion to the Oxfordshire Growth Deal. In total £118.4 will be invested in the Oxfordshire economy. This extra funding will boost key projects and build upon the £108.5 announced last summer and with the additional £9.9 million announced today, the Deal will create up to 9,000 new jobs, build 5,000 new homes and generate £440 million of public and private investment. Supported by local authorities, businesses and key agencies the Growth Deal will improve economic activity, job creation and vital infrastructure improvements across the county.

Nicola says: Having campaigned for years for a Diamond Junction at Lodge Hill, this announcement is great news and will come as a huge relief to Abingdon residents who live with daily traffic misery caused by the A34. The investment in new homes for Oxford will also be welcomed by thousands of my constituents keen to get on the housing ladder.
