Continuing her #BrexitTour, Nicola visited a local company, Elsevier, who are a major investor in digital technology as well as an important local employer.
Elsevier are a world leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information services. Since the UK’s vote to leave the EU, Elsevier have established a Brexit Resource Centre, providing a wealth of resources for researchers and institutions to monitor the effects of Brexit on the UK’s research base.
Nicola visited to meet with the Vice President for Software Engineering, Alex Craig, as well as senior staff and an RELX group representative; discuss Elsevier’s ongoing work to support the science and research community, particular in the Big Data field, and also how Brexit will impact on business and staff.
Nicola says: Oxford has an excellent reputation as a world leading publishing hub and Elsevier is great innovator in digital technology, so it was encouraging to meet and discuss opportunities for the research sector post Brexit as well as how we can support EU nationals working in this field. We know that this industry is a top priority for the Government and it was encouraging to hear direct from Elsevier about new opportunities.
