Apprenticeships Minister Congratulates Local Apprentice Employers

Locally youth unemployment has fallen by 76% and over 2,240 new apprentices have started since 2010. That’s a 63% increase.

We’re lucky locally to have an award-winning Abingdon & Witney College and hundreds of businesses of all types and sizes who see the value of employing apprentices.

As the Government brings in reforms to boost apprenticeships and raise standards, it’s essential these work for local employers and apprentices.

That’s why Nicola invited Apprenticeships Minister, Nick Boles, to visit the College, meet local businesses and apprentices, and hear their views in person.

Already to make apprenticeships more attractive to employers, they no longer pay any National Insurance for apprentices under 24, and the Minister was clear that future reforms would place no additional burden on employers.
